The coordinator: ARNO

ARNO is an organization for Social Innovation established in the Macedonian civil landscape in 2013. The organization started by providing solutions to large global challenges with small, local actions. Immediately after its very first project, ARNO became recognized as a ground-breaking leader in the field of Social Entrepreneurship. Thanks to the successful management of the “Green Ideas Competition” for many years, it is also acknowledged as a national resource for awareness and inspiration in the field of Green Entrepreneurship.

One of ARNO’s strategic areas is working with young people. College-aged individuals are open and enthusiastic about making a change in their society and serving good to all citizens. Global awareness and interaction have broadened their perspectives on the role of doing good. They are eager to be involved, wanting to make an impact. That’s why it’s crucial that these young adults, which are encouraged to be future leaders in the private sector, learn about the Corporate Social Responsibility concept/Social Enterprise Model and envision themselves as Responsible Entrepreneurs.

ARNO loves to work with students and schools. ARNO is creator of the STRET project, but also run the “It’s cool to be coolinary” project tohether with the VET school Lazar Tanev and “This is my Balkan-….together with azar tanev and licenoski.

Radvilishkis Lizdeika Gymnasium

The gymnasium of Lizdeika is the only four-year school implementing upper secondary education in the town. The aim of the gymnasium is to reach the best results in academic achievement, forming students’ social competences and skills as well as designing the community’s positive values. However, the most important aim is to form positive morals such as encouraging students to understand the need of a lifelong learning, being habitually interested in their particular subject, developing critical and creative thinking abilities, being self-confident and motivated.

The gymnasium has been implementing activities of “Students today - responsible entrepreneurs tomorrow”, which are devoted to strengthening their partner-institutions community’s knowledge and skill of Social Entrepreneurship and Corporate Social Responsibility. The gymnasium coordinates the “STRET Teacher Toolkit” project that aims at teachers’ training and integration into partner schools’ curricula.

Entrepreneurship is taught at their gymnasium as an optional subject. The first and third year students choose this subject which consists of several modules related to this subject: ‘Entrepreneurship and management’ and ‘Business and retail management’. The enthusiastic teacher of economics created a module of two years (one lesson a week) which is the current result of STRET project ‘SE and CSR’.

Nowadays, Entrepreneurship is a very new subject at schools, hence STRET has helped them learn a lot about SE and CSR. The methods and techniques used in STRET attracted students to participate in other activities. Since 1st September 2017 the gymnasium has had a professional teacher of economics (after reorganization of the gymnasium) thus the second year of the project was more successful than the first year.
