Croatia’s activities for the month of December
The 10th of December
On the 10th of December 2021, we celebrated Social Entrepreneurship Day through many organized activities. We cooperated with the students who participate in another SE project called TGEL. We all brought the cookies we baked (with love :)) from home to sell them to students and professors, and that way gathered the money for Moje mjesto pod Suncem, and once again proved to ourselves that we can do it if we’re passionate.
The exhibition of Fani’s brilliant car drawings was opened at 9:40 am. All students and professors had a chance to participate in the silent auction; they just had to write their name, surname, and the amount of money they’d like to offer for the drawing they wanted to have. Of course, the student or the professor with the biggest bid got the drawing.
At 10:45 Ema, Lejla and Lora did the healthy food workshop, which was held 3 times per 30 minutes. Students enjoyed making tortillas from many healthy products, such as lettuce, tomato, capsicum, cucumber, onion, yogurt and enjoyed eating them as well. “Priroda i društvo” delivered their own delicious tortillas to support our cause and got us interested in visiting them and having a taste of other products they have to offer.
From the 30th of October until the 9th of December, students were able to bring the clothes they hadn’t worn anymore and leave them in the boxes placed in the school hallways. On Social Entrepreneurship Day, the clothes were being sold in a second-hand shop and all collected money went to the dog shelter in Viškovo. On top of that, there was a fashion show at 12:35 where students picked the best outfit for themselves and had the opportunity to walk through the atrium of the school like real models. Other students had the ability and were encouraged to cast their vote in a Microsoft Forms survey and support the team they liked most. Later, the journalists from the local newspaper “Novi list” visited to take photographs and write an article on social entrepreneurship and the whole day in general.
At 14:15 the results from the silent auction and the fashion show were released on the Instagram page of our school and, of course, the winners were rewarded.
All the activities were successfully accomplished and we’re very proud of everything we’ve done. Through a lot of fun, students learned some new and healthy recipes, what the silent auction is, and how it works, while we learned that any idea could become true if we work on it together (with a little help from our professors :)).
Material and cutlery
We used styrofoam bowls and plates, wooden forks, and knives. Our healthy tortillas consisted of vegetables, turkey ham, mozzarella, and sauce. We prepared tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, and cucumbers. We also made a healthy yogurt and garlic sauce and a chickpea spread. We tried to keep everything on our offer healthy and fresh.
